I am running for CBE School Trustee, Wards 5-10. I would like to apply my skills and knowledge in a challenging, multidimensional and performance oriented work environment. I have focused on the areas of Early Childhood Learning and Education. I feel parents need a strong voice in the CBE to advocate for them and help navigate the system. Being your Trustee will allow me to do more to serve and support you and your children. Funding at this time is the biggest challenge facing the Calgary schools. It affects a number of schools, classroom size, classroom supports, resources, programs, quality of facilities and our ability to help our students.
I came to Canada in 1973. I work with children and my husband is a Petroleum Engineer Geologist. I have two children and my family moved from Calgary to Regina in 1975. From 1979 to 1987 we spent time overseas in the oil patch and returned to Calgary in 1987.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Political Science; Early Childhood Diploma. I got my Alberta Government Validator Certification for Daycares across the province in 2008. I have attended several workshops related to school age children in Calgary. I have also completed the out of school site reviewer training course offered by Canadian Accreditation Council of Human Resources.
